The System administrator will work directly under IT Services Manager will be responsible for Banks system administration to ensure the day-to-day smooth running and continued development of Banks IT systems including the support of all hardware and software and maintenance of the IT.
Duties and Responsibilities:
a) Maintain the AS/400 machines to provide reliable tape backups and job execution, database mirroring and maintain high availability per business needs as well as maintaining the development server.
b) Ensures tape backup media are stored onsite as well as offsite as per the policy.
c) Tapes are encrypted using TKLM or similar software to secure the media.
d) Tapes are restored from time to time to confirm data backup consistency.
e) Manage AS/400 system operations, apply PTF’s, install OS upgrades, track/report AS/400 resource utilization.
f) Monitor AS/400 logs, system messages, perform troubleshooting and update operations documentation.
g) Respond to alerts, messages and pages.
h) Recommend initiatives and execute projects to meet business operational requirements.
i) Define and implement and administer backup tape management procedures and documentation Administer AS/400 utilities, potential shift hours offsets.
j) Manage multiple servers, workstations, and X terminals, ensuring proper integration of these components with existing Bank’s IT systems.
k) Plan and implement system security policy, to include firewalls, host and client access, file permissions, and user accounts.
l) Recommend and direct software changes and updates to keep department systems up-to-date. Monitors any software changes. Assists departments and branches with regard to program changes and operations
m) Assure system documentation by writing detailed descriptions of the system components. Supervises the training of user department personnel in the use of PC’s, terminals, printers and other peripherals. In addition to the program applications installed.
n) Provide on-call consulting advice and technical support to various users regarding specific operational/applications issues.
o) Research evaluate, installs, configure, and troubleshoot all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary to meet integrated systems objectives.
p) May lead or guide the work of other junior staff engaged in similar functions.
q) Work on special projects to assist various departments, branches bank wide.
r) Be on call 24/7 if needed or in case of emergencies
s) Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelors or Masters Degree in computers or information Systems
Professional / Technical Qualifications / Diplomas:
• Hardware Certifications.
